A Day At Podium’s New Offices

DVS team manager Gabe Clement says “come on in.”

The new main lobby.

Podim’s on the eco-kick with a bike-to-work program. BD got some bikes from Swobo for employees to ride (they are the ones with glowing rims, which aren’t really glowing but they sure look like it), and there are prizes if you bike to work for a week or a month. Also, they have priority parking for hybrids.

Cullen checked his mail. The new issue of Transworld Biz was in his box, when he got to his office, the first thing he did was throw it away. This is called jealousy. Hey BD, shouldn’t he at least recycle the mag? I mean, that’s just offsetting the good you’re doing with the bike-to-work program. I think you should dock his pay a little. Or maybe just kick him in the nuts.

The Gav, startled, with a clipboard.

Cardboard Gav. For when the real thing’s not around.

I feel like I take this picture every time I walk through the warehouse. But it’s fun to skate on, albeit slippery. O’Meally broke his foot on this.

Podium has an internal contest to see who can decorate their area the coolest. Accounting is winning by a landslide.

Fun with photoshop = rad tour poster.

Gabe and Cullen showed me around. Here they are in Gav’s office. (not pictured: Gav)

And, of course, the skatepark. Great use of space. Kudos to whoever designed it. I got to shred with Darkstar Dave and Paul Sharpe, and even Scott Johnston. It was like 1998 all over again.

Matix made a commemorative batch of Cabernet Sauvignion. I like MJ, and I like drinking.

Once the rigorous workday was over, I followed Cullen to Long Beach. Your commute sucks, Cullen.

We had beers at The Red Room, which Cullen says is Long Beach’s skater bar. I saw a Trapasso board on the wall, but no Boosh. I was disappointed.

After that, we met up with Converse Skate’s lovely Sharon Bayron for some Mediterranean food, and good old-fashioned shit-talk catching up.
