On Thursday night I somehow found myself in a sea of Orange County high school students. Extremely excitable and well-dressed high school students. The event, held at 7 Degrees in Laguna Beach, was the first annual Generation Next, a design contest in which five high school girls got to design a dress and handbag for O’Neill’s spring ’09 line.

The Nike 6.0 Lowers Pro has come to Trestles, and the diligent editors of Transworld Business took it upon ourselves to leave the office behind for a day to go check it out.
Friday morning’s high tide and light wind translated to clean, overhead sets for rounds 5 and 6 of the WQS men’s event. The San Clemente crowd was definitely rooting for their hometown boys the Gudauskas brothers, but only Patrick managed to snag a spot in tomorrow’s quarterfinals. Hawaiian Sebastian Zietz scored a perfect ten that got everyone cheering and was also good enough for a trip to the QFs. Also held today were rounds 1 and 2 of the Oakley Pro Junior.

Sterling Spencer has an awesome name. His bottom turn isn’t too bad either.
Friday’s waves were consistently rideable well into the whitewash zone. Spencer rode this one almost all the way in, prompting park rangers to require that competitors stay out of the whitewater due to “safety regulations.”

I don’t know what this thing is, but I do know that I’d hate to be the guy in charge of managing Nike’s marketing budget.
Call me old school (or just old), but I’m always amazed at how groms can just sit and play video games during events like this.
The reason Orange County is so overpopulated.
On Wednesday, April 30, industry heavies from across Southern California gathered at the Monarch Beach Golf Resort in Dana Point, CA for the Chill Golf tournament. Chill is a non-profit organization founded by Jake and Donna Burton that teaches under-privileged kids how to surf, skate, and snowboard.
Wednesday’s tournament raised over $40,000 for the program, with around 100 golfers in attendance (and a handful of non-golfers, like yours truly). The winning foursomes were from Kicker and Add On Computer. Here are some highlights:

Transworld SNOWboarding’s Nick Hamilton and Adam Cozens completed their foursome with Billabong’s Andrew Mariner and The Program’s Bryan Knox.
Team New Era was looking schnazzy in their golf caps. New Era sponsored a hole where participants could pick up their own hats with this year’s Chill logo on them. How many clubs do these guys need anyway?
Sure beats a day in the office.
The resort has a dress code that requires all golfers to wear collared shirts, which gave Fuel TV’s John Stouffer the chance to break out this gem. That patch says “LA County Coroner.” TW marketing coordinator Nate Feliz managed to lurk his way into the photo as well.

I stole a cart and went on a nature safari, where I met this little feller. In case you were wondering, golf is not the greatest spectator sport for those who suffer from ADHD.
The most popular ladies on the course! 10 Cane Rum was serving up mojitos all day long.
The gracious gentlemen from New Era were kind enough to let one of the rum girls take a swing. There are way too many club/ball/hole jokes going on in this photo to cram into one caption.
