A recent article in the North County Times takes a look at the community of Poway, California. Infamous for arbitrarily closing its park down when one or two skaters is caught without pads, the city is looking into a new system to allow skaters into the park.
According to the article, Community Services Director Robert Clark would install a scanner to read thumbprints for registered skaters. This device would be installed to “curb vandalism and misbehavior at the park.”
“Clark said the renovations would help the city monitor who is using the park. City Hall would maintain a database of the names, ages and fingerprints of people who register to use the park, he said. That information, with an upgraded camera system monitoring the park, will help keep skaters on their best behavior even when no one else is around, Clark said.”

ZOO YORK 2008 EURO TOUR // PODCAST 1 OF 4 NOW AVAILABLE
Last summer the Zoo Crew spent the month of June traveling throughout Europe filming for Zoo York’s soon-to-release video “State of Mind,” and hosting demos and autograph signings. Using planes, trains and automobiles to get around, the crew visited Europe’s finest skate spots, bars, clubs and shops.
Over the coming month, a total of four podcasts will be released (one each week) that chronicle the team’s exploits in the UK, Sweden, Amsterdam, Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland, and France. Once all four podcasts have dropped, the final trailer for “State of Mind” will be released in late March.
The first ZY Euro Tour podcast covers the UK leg of the trip and features ZY Officials Zered Bassett, Forrest Kirby, Anthony Shetler, Ron Deily and Eli Reed. Check it out on the ZY Media Channel, and download a free podcast from the iTunes Store.
