Footwear Giant Positions Itself for Growth in The Orient

Presidents have one. Martin Luther King, Jr. has one. Hell, in Australia Guy Fawkes even has one, and all he did was threaten to blow up Parliament. So what good comes out of having a “day,” and why do we need them for surfing and skateboarding? The short-short answer is recognition.

This July, the Maloof family will host the richest skateboarding contest ever held—the Maloof Money Cup. The Maloofs flew the crème de la crème of the skateboarding world out to Las Vegas for a press conference at their casino, The Palms. Brothers Joe and Gavin Maloof wanted to tell us about their contest, and they wanted us to hear it from them.

In the wake of their mass exodus from Crimson, Kris Markovich and friends have launched yet another board brand, called Given.

According to a story in the Orange County Register, pro skater Brian Patch, 36, was arrested and faces charges for committing a “lewd act with a 15-year-old girl.”
