Events & Show Wrap Up From Berlin’s Bright Trade Show

The Bright banner flying over the former East German Ministry for State Security’s (STASI) headquarters. The Stasi was widely regarded as one of the most effective and repressive intelligence and secret police agencies in the world and the building’s design makes it obvious that some seriously creepy and brutal shit went down within its walls. It’s pretty cool to keep this in the back of your mind as the halls fill with skaters, artists, retailers, music, and mayhem.

Bright XIV kicked off this morning under anything but bright skies. While the weather outside in Berlin makes London look tropical, the mood on the show floor is balmy as skateboarding and streetwear’s biggest names are on hand to share what’ll be dropping for Fall ’12. In addition to the usual suspects who have been making the rounds from Agenda to Surf Expo and on to Berlin to share their latest and greatest with Europe’s top retailers, Bright is increasingly becoming a draw for US retailers and distributors looking to get a drop on the next “it” brand like Makia or WeSC.

Here’s a look at the action from today. We’ll be here all week with party, people, and product pics so stay tuned…
