All responses by Foundry Dist. Co-founder Josh Roberts:
What overall trends are you seeing in the boot market?
This is a very exciting category, and boots in the shops these days are still far from perfect, even though they are worlds apart from what we all rode 15 years ago. There is more focus on fit and function, less room for hype. This is good. Riders know what they want and are ready to pay a couple of extra bucks for a boot that doesn’t hurt their feet and keeps its shape all season long.
How has your approach to lacing systems evolved in the past few years?
Technical lacing has finally made its way into all major brand’s lines and the market. We are very proud to be one of the pioneers of this development with our proprietary TLS system and continue to push for improvements.
What new construction techniques, technologies, or fabrics do you anticipate breaking out next year?
We continue to improve on our Reducer construction, offering the best fit, reduced slip, and smaller overall footprint of the boot. This concept will make its way into other boot models next season.
What trends do you anticipate in the realm of graphics and colors?
Clean and simple. Solid colors.
Have you seen any new trends in market segmentation?
Our mid-to high end boot sales have gone up. This is a clear sign for us that the consumer is willing to spend more money for a well-fitting, high quality product.
