FUEL TV Names Melissa Forman SVP Of Programming, Development & Current

screen-shot-2011-08-24-at-54107-pmFUEL TV announced today that it is naming 8-time Emmy winner Melissa Forman as its new senior vice president programming, development & current effective immediately. Forman will report to Executive Vice President George Greenberg, and is tasked with managing the development and production of shows for FUEL TV by independent production companies. Forman, who spent seven years with FUEL TV’s parent FOX Sports Media Group (FSMG), most recently created and produced the five-time Emmy winning series “Yankees On Deck” for YES Network and directed features for espnW from the 2011 Winter X Games.

“Melissa is one of the most talented show runners in the business,” says Greenberg. “She is an exceptional producer/director who brings a very distinctive production style to the network. She carries a creative and aggressive spirit that will guide FUEL TV’s programming in a dynamic direction that will have a lasting impact.”

Forman’s arrival at FUEL TV marks her full-time return to the FOX Sports Media Group (FSMG) where she spent seven years earlier in her career, and she returns with an impressive record. She is assuming a full-time role for FUEL TV after recently serving as a consultant for FSMG, overseeing program development for FUEL TV and SPEED networks. Before returning to FOX, Forman created and produced the five-time Emmy Award-winning series “Yankees On Deck” for YES Network. She produced and directed features for espnW from the 2011 Winter X Games in Aspen. Forman also created, directed, and produced a six-episode instructional series for Tennis Channel titled “Tennis Channel Academy.” She also won an Emmy as the creative producer, assisting in development and coordination of the BCS pregame show on FOX.

FUEL TV’s newest executive was a member of the original creative team that launched FOX Sports in 1994 with the “Same Game, New Attitude” tag line. She served as the newly christened sports division’s director, on-air promotions, and later as director, special projects and vice president, special projects from March 1994 to December 2000. Her most prominent contributions to FOX Sports include creating, directing, and producing IN THE ZONE, a three-time Emmy-nominated baseball show for kids; live music producer and director for the NFL ON FOX SUPER BOWL XXXI and XXXIII pregame shows; and producing and directing the openings for FOX NFL SUNDAY, America’s No. 1 NFL pregame show.

Melissa began her career at MTV in New York, where she progressed from production assistant to associate producer of MTV’s “Unplugged.” As associate producer of MTV Sports, she received two Emmy Awards for Best Edited Sports Series. In 2001, she formed Sun Bear Productions where she directed and produced a series of athlete profiles for Red Bull of North America, one of which was awarded Best Short Film at the prestigious Banff Mountain Film Festival.

Melissa graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a BA in Mass Communication and currently lives in Santa Monica with her two daughters.
