Sunday, May 8: Heated sessions went down today in the qualifying round at Street League in Seattle.  Monster team riders O’Neill and Cole both skated strong and easily advanced into tomorrow’s 10-man final showdown.

O’Neill dominated his heat with consistency; tricks like bigspin backside tailslide to fakie on the ledges and a perfect switch backside flip down the big-stair set solidified his third place finish for the main event.

“I’m stoked I made the finals, that’s all I wanted,” said O’Neill. “For the finals I’m just going to stick with what I know.”

Chris Cole kept it clean and steady putting down tricks like a textbook frontside noseblunt slide on the big hubba ledge and switch frontside tailslide on the yellow rail. Cole’s tricks qualified him in 5th place.

The contest isn’t over for Monster’s Dompierre and Ramondetta yet.  They have one more chance to make it into the final in tomorrow’s “Last Chance” qualifier. Judging by today’s action, tomorrow’s final will be gnarly.

Street League founder and Monster Energy athlete Rob Dyrdek was ecstatic about today’s qualifier and summed it up, saying, “Tomorrow is going to be so insane!”

Don’t miss tomorrow’s finals from 1 to 3 pm at the KeyArena in Seattle.  In honor of Mother’s Day, all moms get in free with at least one paid ticket presented by Bill My Parents.
