Robin Mavis, Category Manager Outerwear/Accessories and Shawn Penrod, US Sales Manager:
What are the three biggest trends you see shaping the market and what you are doing to meet them?
In the 11/12 Cappel Collection we have taken a multi-functional approach as the pieces are designed with a true street fit to easily crossover from the mountain to the city while still offering the need protection for snowboarding. These styles offer fresh silhouettes that include a tailored street fit jackets and skinny stretch fit pants. What are the three biggest trends you see shaping the market and what you are doing to meet them?
Fabrics are also key. We utilize high quality fabrics throughout our collections including Chambray, Resin Wax Coated & Rich wool-like fabrics in Cappel.
Functional and intentional features have always been a necessity with snowboard outerwear. For example we have added zip out powder skirts to all jacket models so that you can truly wear it as a street piece.
What fabrics, colors, and technologies are you focusing on for next season?
For Cappel we have gone back to more fashion & street inspired designs that are still fully rideable. As stated above, we have gone to a truly tailored street fit and styling that can be worn both on the mountain and casually. All the fabrics are natural fibered feeling with finishes that include a cotton canvas look, a rich wool-like feel, a resin waxed fabric and a chambray.
What are pricepoints doing?
Price points have been trending down for the most part in all channels of retail, mainly due to the excess of inventory at retail. We adjusted our pricing on the Cappel Collection to be more accessible to both retailers and consumers.
