Nike 6.0 Sponsors Breck’s 22′ Pipe Dew Tour Opener

Breckenridge Ski Resort

Breckenridge Ski Resort’s superpipe at last years Winter Dew Tour.

In it’s third year, the Winter Dew Tour has signed on Nike 6.0 as the new event title sponsor for the tour’s season-opener, the Nike 6.0 Open. Hosted at Breckenridge Ski Resort December 16-19, 2010, the event will use the resorts newly elevated 22-foot superpipe.

The new 22-foot pipe will be a part of Peak 8′s Freeway Terrain Park as the entire park gets a new look. The reconstruction is the first at Freeway Terrain Park since it was opened in 1999.

Nick Simon, master pipe builder is in charge of building the new pipe. “This is like
a dream come true. We’ve worked hard to make our parks top-notch and I’m stoked to take it to the next level.”

Also taking it to the next level is Nike 6.0, the action sports division of Nike, who have just welcomed pro snowboarder Mason Aguire to their new outerwear line.

“I’m stoked to be a part of the Nike 6.0 team and to have such a great brand backing me,” said Aguirre. “It will be awesome to start off the Winter Dew Tour season with a Nike 6.0-sponsored event and the fact that Breck is going to a 22-foot pipe will make the contest that much better.”

“Entering its third season, the Winter Dew Tour has established itself as a strong platform for growing winter action sports at all levels,” said Chris Prybylo, General Manager of the Winter Dew Tour. “Having an esteemed brand like Nike 6.0 extend their relationship with us to event title sponsor demonstrates the strength of the property and their brand’s shared commitment to this industry.”

For the 2008-09 and 2009-10 Winter Dew Tour seasons Nike 6.0 was an associate-level partner. Now as an event title sponsor, Nike 6.0 has tour-wide exclusivity for footwear, athletic and casual apparel, and outerwear.

Athletes participating in the Winter Dew Tour compete for the Dew Cup that will be awarded at the final event, the Toyota Championships at Snowbasin Resort in February.
