Okay, so it’s not a snowboarding goggle, but it’s a really cool app for retailers, consumers, and humans with Android phones.
Google Goggles allow users to simply take a photo of items like logos, products, and business cards and Google them without typing anything. For stores, you don’t even need to take a photo, just point the phone at the shop and it’s info comes up.
Combine this with Google Local Shopping and the playing field with the iPhone looks like it’s starting to level a bit for consumers and provide a compelling reason for retailers and brands to start focusing on Android based apps and services.
Google is promising that the functionality is going to grow rapidly. We’re looking forward to when this really is a goggle. Check out the video to see how it works:
