Things were starting to look a little warm at the top of the pack last month with Decenzo narrowing Malto’s lead to a mere 2,400 points, but KC’s favorite son juiced the Gatorade and etnies ads this month giving himself a comfortable 6,000-plus buffer. Gilbert Crockett charged into the top three—not bad for an am—with his TWS profile. In other top-ten newbie news, Kevin “Spanky” Long, racked up nearly 6k, including a long interview in TSM, that moved him eleven spots into 7th. Tyler Bledsoe also cracked the ranks, moving from 13th to 9th.
REYNOLDS HOLDS LEAD
Irons And Andino Make Jump Into Top Five
The race for surf supremacy is heating up in the back half of the year as Dane Reynolds and Mick Fanning jockey for the top spot on the world famous Surf Exposure-Meter race. And although less than 2,000 points separates these two, the real story this month is what’s happening just a few rungs down the ladder. Young Kolohe Andino has earned himself a spot in the top three, and Bruce Irons has climbed back into the top five. What makes this particularly interesting is that less than 500 points separate Bruce Irons and Dusty Payne. Last year Payne beat out Irons by nearly 14,000 points, but by scoring the cover of Surfer and an “unauthorized interview” written by PostSurf’s oft black-eyed blogger Lewis Samuels, Irons was able to score some serious ink—and points—this month.
