In the July issue of TransWorld Business we profiled seven women who are changing the face of action sports. All of the women that we chose to feature are pioneers in their respective fields and disciples, but choosing the seven we profiled was no easy task. While the action sports industry’s boardrooms are still heavily male-dominated, women have been making amazing inroads to the executive ranks over recent years and are helping shape the strategy and landscape of the industry. We mulled the decision for months to nail down a solid cross-section representing women’s accomplishments, and here’s who we included:
Megan Baltimore - Girl Skateboards co-founder
Danielle Beck - Roxy VP of marketing
Donna Carpenter - Burton Snowboards co-owner
Annie Fast - TransWorld SNOWboarding editor-in-chief
Candy Harris - Billabong women’s brand director
Debbie Harvey - Ron Jon Surf Shop president
Circe Wallace - Wasserman Media Group Senior VP
There are dozens of other women that are worthy of being included in this list whom are making their mark on the industry every day. Going forward, we plan on making this a regular section in both our Web and print coverage and we’d like to hear your feedback on the impact of women in our industry, their increasing strategic role going forward, as well as your thoughts and suggestions on other female visionaries, leaders, and trail blazers that inspire you.

I'm looking forward to this section- My favorite time of year is when the the Snowboard Canada Women's Issue comes out and it leaves me wanting more- preferably more than once a year. I feel lucky that my job allows me to see many of the women who you eventually will feature. Thanks for the July issue. Stoked!
As a female small business owner in this industry, it's inspiring to read about the women who worked their way to success before me… it CAN be done! Please keep these articles coming.
Great articles so far. Nice work.
I'm so stoked to see more of this section! The roles of women in action sports is drastically underrated and I think something like this will help to bring us to the forefront. We definitely need to see more women taking the lead in each of our respective disciplines in action sports and seeing those who have already made a huge impact will help to motivate and inspire the rest of us! Thank you TransWorld! Get after it girls!
You guys should do a feature on women who work in engineering and hardgoods in the industry. I hear there are not too many.
This article rocks!
I think it's important that the world get to see what women are doing for women. I'm a motocross fan and I think you should consider Stefy Bau for this section. She is one of the pioneer of the sport and the first one that got e prestigious position in the sport after her career ended.
In Motocross most of the athletes are lost after their racing career, Stefy shifted her focus from elite world athlete to the FIM women World Motocross General Manager. I think she is a truly inspirational person.
