Gigi Rüf Claims 2009/10 Snow Exposure-Meter Title

Since following up a last-minute charge into second in the closing round of last season’s Exposure-Meter race by catapulting into first to start this season, Gigi Rüf has been the man to beat. As the shred media cranked out the print porn this year, Pat Moore and Annie Boulanger both claimed pole position and vied to take Rüf down, but another late sprint in the final two months helped him crack the 30,000-point barrier and earn the ’09/10 crown.

“I am very happy … this award does mean a lot,” says Rüf. Gigi’s tally rally also put him over the 100,000-point barrier since 2004, moving him into the all-time number five spot. Although last year’s race turned into a battle for second behind Travis Rice, much like this year’s Olympics were for fourth place EM finisher Shaun White, 2009/10 came down to the wire. Less than 3,000 points separated Scotty Lago from the EM throne. Pat Moore led the race throughout the early months of 2010 and held on for third, while Danny Davis rounded out the top five with a big ad finish.
