Every two years SIMA releases some serious research results to its members, and now that Surf Summit has been postponed it appears that the trade association will be releasing the info on Thursday, July 9 at its Sales & Marketing Boot Camp. The event will feature a seminar on youth trends, a panel discussion on sales in today’s market and the release of the 2008 SIMA Retail Distribution Study results.
Here’s some additional information and a link to download registration forms:
“‘One of SIMA’s main objectives is to serve the surf industry as a knowledge center, and SIMA Boot Camps are a vital component of bringing that objective to life for the employees of our member companies,’ said Doug Palladini, SIMA President and Vice President of Marketing for Vans. ‘The upcoming Sales and Marketing Boot Camp is particularly relevant in that we are providing the latest industry research and trends, as well as addressing sales challenges, at a time in which the uneven landscape demands fact-based decisions.’”
‘We at SIMA are very proud to present our third Retail Distribution Study,’ commented Palladini, who will be presenting the results of the 2008 SIMA Retail Distribution Study to the Sales & Marketing Boot Camp attendees. ‘With the release of our 2008 work, we are now covering the past six years of surf retail, and each time we produce new research, the value grows. And while research data will never completely replace things such as industry knowledge, consumer understanding or just plain gut feel, it is an extremely valuable addition to making informed business decisions.’
