Billabong’s Third Annual Design For Humanity kicked off Wednesday, June 17th at the Avalon in Hollywood, with a large turnout from industry members who were looking to enjoy good music, fashion and support a charitable cause. Check out our interview with Candy Harris, Billabong women’s brand director, about how the event came together this year. This year’s Design for Humanity benefited Charity: Water, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing clean water to people in developing nations. The organization had a strong presence at the event, with a booth set up in the lobby distributing T-shirts, wrist bands and flyers.

An art auction with proceeds benefiting Charity: Water featured pieces from a wide array of artists, and the gallery, set up inside the Avalon, served as an excellent area to meet and greet. The fashion show drew an excited crowd, and that energy carried over into punk rockers’ Iglu and Hartly’s performance. Headliners Airborne Toxic Event rocked the venue by playing a series of songs including their recent hit “Sometime Around Midnight.” Overall, the night appeared to be a success. Stay tuned to TransWorld Biz for more photos and video updates. For even more commentary and photos from the evening, check out what ASR’s Jim Shubin had to say on The Biz Network.
