The Skate Shop Showcase, an event that gives skate shops a designated amount of wall space to design however they see fit, will be held starting at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 20, in downtown L.A. at Gallery 1018. Not only will the event help highlight skate shops across the country, but it also happens to fall on the eve of Go Skateboarding Day. What better reason is there to get out and show some support?

The showcase is presented by Ollie Pop, which will also be holding an Art of Sk8 charity contest, encouraging skate shops to submit the most original skate-inspired pieces. The grand prize winner will take home $500 worth of Ollie Pop bubble gum and get featured on a commemorative event package of Ollie Pop. Entries will be used to raise money and awareness for charities that support the arts, skateboarding and children’s causes, according to a recent press release.

“Nik Souris of Ollie Pop had this to say regarding their Sponsorship of the event, ‘We are excited to be involved in a festive evening that brings attention to the organizations that fuel the sport – the skate shops.’

Skate Shops enlisted to be part of this years event so far are Liberty Board Shop, Urban Era (Daly City), Val Surf, Maintain, Transport, Non-Factory, 2nd Nature (New York), Good Times (San Antonio, TX), ZJ’s Boarding House, 9 Star, Shelter, One Way Board Shop, Sunken City, IG board shop and many more to come.”
