Grenade Gloves is heading back to Vegas for round two of Sin City’s trade shows, Magic Marketplace, where it will launch a new line of street apparel and accessories. The new line will include t-shirts, hats, hoodies, jeans, belts, and skate and casual shoes.
“Grenade was also selected to showcase its first-ever street line of apparel at S.L.A.T.E., (Select Lifestyle Apparel Trends Emergence) a 40,000 square foot juried event featuring established and emerging skate, surf and street lifestyle brands,” says Grenade PR’s Hilary Hutcheson. “To be included in S.L.A.T.E, brands must go beyond a trend and become thoroughly immersed in culture on a global level.”
“You have to have a certain level of buzz generating about your product to be part of S.L.A.T.E.,” says Joseph Condorelli, Grenade CEO in a press release. “This shows how highly-anticipated the Grenade Street collection is already. We can’t wait to get the new product out into stores, and neither can our customers.”
The Magic Marketplace takes place February 17-19 in the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Jeans, Hoodies and plaid shirts..come on it ain’t rock science.
February 12th, 2009 at 11:42 am
Agreed. But the question is will the kiddies buy it based on brand strength or will this crash-and-burn, i.e., brand over extension? As you were.

Grenade shoes just what im waiting for.
February 12th, 2009 at 1:05 pm
Dealers love to hate Grenade, delivery is not great from what I hear, but sell thru is solid. Streetwear is more of a logical progression then the shoes by far. Over extending maybe, just hire a couple more people to deal that’s all. It’s not going to be mad volume. The category isn’t in the 2009-10 snow catalogue, So I don’t know where they are placing it. But it?s a smart move cause it will open a few more channels for them.

With a strong look book going into next season, Grenade is showing obvious signs of maturity and understanding of the market. Knowing that the loud prints that they were famous for skewed to a younger audience, Danny and the brand as a whole, have stepped up their design and functionality game. With new clean designs and a bright color pallete their new products rival those of industry veterans.
With millions of dollars pouring into the “Streetwear” scene, Grenade will be able to take their products up a level and appeal to a wider audience. Streetwear represents a year round product line that will not face the common seasonality sideaffects of a unilateral brand (holden, orage, etc)
Blow it up Danny!

Dealers love to hate Grenade, ??? I do not think they love to hate us they want service and we are giving them that finally!
delivery is not great from what I hear,It wasn’t but it is now!
but sell thru is solid. Some of the best in the business because we are very proud of our product and it shows.
Streetwear is more of a logical progression then the shoes by far.Shoes are Streetwear and casual wear and our shoes reflect that.
Over extending maybe, It would be if we had 4000 SKUS like some other people in our field.
just hire a couple more people to deal that?s all.
Not just hire but find the best and add them to our already solid family.
It?s not going to be mad volume. Correct it is not going to be Mad volume great things do not do mad volume.
The category isn?t in the 2009-10 snow catalogue,
Because we seperate seasons and keep it fresh so our customers do not get overwhelmed.
So I don?t know where they are placing it. It will be in new accounts , online and our contemporary clients.
But it?s a smart move cause it will open a few more channels for them. Thank you for the complement and if you are interested in anymore information I would love to get it to you. I think you are avery smart and informative individual.

On Point I like that JC. Seams like you are even smarter…You are the best thing to happen to this Brand.
February 12th, 2009 at 2:00 pm
First shoes, then the x-games, now this? So sad, remember when Grenade stood for something and was cool?
February 12th, 2009 at 2:04 pm
yup.
February 12th, 2009 at 2:05 pm
It’s a manifestation of their manifesto. It’s all good. People need to grow up ya know. Or you die on the couch alone and nobody finds out till month later.
February 12th, 2009 at 5:55 pm
grenade x nike sb snow boot collab!
February 12th, 2009 at 6:25 pm
Hasn’t the pin been pulled on this company yet….. “Don’t worry, everything is better now”…. NOT likely. I still hear the grumble…. Payed your reps yet????
February 12th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
Over extension for sure, if they think action sport retailers are difficult to deal with,,,,,,,wait to they enter the world of streetwear….good luck getting paid…..and please do us all a favor and lose that dork “dingo”! He’s embarrassing…and WTF is he hiding under that tragic gimmick knuckle duster all over print snot rag? A double chin?
February 12th, 2009 at 8:45 pm
“Ya know” I don’t agree, explain to me why Grenade needs a CEO, does he or any of the 50 new employees even snowboard? Sure, brands need to grow up, but growing up does not have to mean selling out.
February 12th, 2009 at 9:06 pm
Bhawk , did you win a french / american dictionary in Vegas , you just got through a whole comment thread without misspelling a word , complete with slang , i am so stoked for you ! Well done ! lesse’ le’ bon ton roulliet’ , ce’ la vie ! How’d i do ? not so good ?

February 13th, 2009 at 7:04 am
HAHAHAHA…NO I just recovered. I took about a week or so.
February 13th, 2009 at 7:16 am
Man I don’t know where you are coming from. But They wouldn’t have survived otherwise and I doubt they hired 50 employees.
February 13th, 2009 at 7:16 am
opps forgot a “t”
February 13th, 2009 at 8:53 am
What isn’t?
February 13th, 2009 at 4:07 pm
Streetwear is TIRED!!!! Neff is the only one to survive out of that trend…..what happened to Nomis, didnt see that brand at ASR Jan. How many Phat Farms can we have in surf skate snow? That shit sucks so royal and snow kids are in the biggest identity crisis ever whats it going to be next year goth? Stick with gloves and bong loads brah.
February 13th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
NEFF was the retarded child of streetwear or what ASR tends to think is streetwear.
As far as Grenade, well, lets see what they put out, hopefully it isn’t an all-over print tee with different types of grenade silhouettes that they just reprint every season….. *ahem* But ofcourse it isn’t going to be original, it’s gotta follow what’s “trending”.
February 13th, 2009 at 5:15 pm
I guess F#cking Capko and R.V. out of their commissions last season (Capko $125,000 and R.V. $130,000) allows you to do lots of things. Lets face it, Grenade is super played out and even the heads in Mammoth aren’t backin’ it anymore. You’ve turned into a “cartoon” company and the whole “Danny and Dingo” show is making a mockery out of you guys. You should have sold to Quiksilver years ago when Matt and Danny had the chance. Grenade is f#cking “clown shoes”! R.I.P.
February 13th, 2009 at 5:21 pm
Word! Those reps got f#cked after years of loyal service and growing the brand. Watch your back ’cause if you owed me $250,000 I’d plant you under a nice tree somewhere. Enough of this corpo bullshit!!!!
February 13th, 2009 at 7:12 pm
Brutal…

capko is a fag and rv is a cheat
February 15th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
Capko is a fag? Hmmm… he’s got a hot girlfriend! RV is a cheat? What does he cheat at? That’s why you ripped them off of the commissions that they earned selling your product. Wow, you’re a real DOUCHE with no knowledge of anything!
February 15th, 2009 at 7:17 pm
U People need to chill…
February 15th, 2009 at 8:26 pm
sooo many people have been fucked by grenade…. riders, reps, staff and most importantly… friends.
cory smith’s original backstab painting that used to hang in june lake was bang on. back$tab.
February 15th, 2009 at 8:57 pm
Grenade is run by a dude from Microsoft now… if anyone went into their booth at SIA, you would’ve seen a bunch of dudes in their 40’s and 50’s. Not to mention the only thing they talked about the whole show was there sell-through. Yeah, no shit. You sell gloves!
To the dude hating on Nomis, if you have even seen their line and compared it with legitimate streetwear brands, you’d be impressed. Besides, half off the skate industry wasn’t at ASR.
And the idea of Grenade streetwear is hilarious. Grenade, attention to detail? There product is the most basic, shitty quality out there. My only confidence in the announcement of Grenade streetwear is because I spotted Scotty ILL of The Hundreds rolling with Dingo in Vegas.
February 15th, 2009 at 8:58 pm
Don’t call Neff streetwear. Read a book.
February 16th, 2009 at 1:02 am
Really? You’ve got to be kidding me. Streetwear? Shoes and Demin is a stretch that is a going a little too far. There has been some solid companies out there to go big but keep their core cred, This isn’t one of them. Word on the street, They dropped tons into Marshalls and TJ Max all over the East Coast. Didn’t they once own the East Coast? Too bad. Im sure after Matt took off Danny started takin advice from the Dingo. Whats up with all that MMA/UFC shit. That is wack. I thought it was a snowboard company?
February 16th, 2009 at 7:40 am
Man it was like one t shirt….
February 16th, 2009 at 7:31 pm
grenade is a failing shit show that will be gone unless somebody buys it in the next 2 years. good luck.
February 17th, 2009 at 7:07 am
And this is based on what? Put some facts out there, instead of sweeping statements.
February 17th, 2009 at 10:58 am
1. its his wife.
2. youve got some brown on your nose.
February 17th, 2009 at 10:59 am
you should probably read this…
http://business.transworld.net/2009/02/16/market-watch-why-retailers-book-a-brand/
not to mention, grenade has been selling a full outerwear line since 06
February 17th, 2009 at 11:05 am
These boards always just turn into flame wars.
If Grenade is doing well enough to put foward a streetwear line, then i say more power to them!
If the outerwear had such good sellthrough then its likely we will see something similar with the streetwear since it is so graphics based
February 17th, 2009 at 1:09 pm
What surprises me most about this whole thing is that a CEO of a company would be spending time on a TWBiz message board trying to defend his dying brand by posting some poorly written drivel about how truly great his company really is even though they have no backbone anymore.
If I were a retailer, knowing that a CEO of a company (even one self-proclaimed with no resume) were wasting time on this thing, and then I read his posts which REALLY show his lack of education and communication skills….. I would run as fast as possible in the other direction.
There are plenty of other solid streetwear brands out there making a good run - Comune/Ambig/Obey/etc. to choose from. Grenade would be dead last on my list.
Anyway JC - Last I heard, when you have no spine, no foundation, there’s no way you can walk, let alone run. So Grenade is dead in it’s tracks. Just like Founder Matt sadly shooting drugs somewhere in Portland with his baby-mama and Danny? where is he? No one really knows. He surely isn’t involved with the company anymore. You should just give it up too.
what a Total waste of a brand.
February 17th, 2009 at 1:17 pm
What would you have done with it then?
February 17th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
The only thing Grenade needed was STRUCTURE!! Nothing else. No new CEO or CFO who has no feeling for the snowboarding industry. I guess JC rather goes skiing.
There are how many, two or three, dudes left from the old Grenade office crew. The other dushes and random chicks are just some random people from the street. Chosen and hired by JC and his old faggy frieds from the Silicon Vallay.
This is not a pc what you are selling. It’s snowboarding gear. And this industry has it’s own culter, rules and laws. So please, stop dreaming, go home and please, leave us alone!!
February 17th, 2009 at 2:34 pm
Danny please!! Stop listening to this guy. Get some one who understands this industry and puts your and your friends company back on track.
February 17th, 2009 at 7:58 pm
Couldn’t agree more with the “waste of a brand” quote. The only thing that could save the brand from its sad demise into the depths of discount stores and mall life would be for Danny to fire everyone and not make product for a year or so. Apparently we care more about the brand than the founder, kind of sad really.
February 17th, 2009 at 7:59 pm
What the hell do u want a ten piece in every pocket? Will that make them “legit”. It’s own culture, rules and laws? Man Buisness is Buisness.
February 17th, 2009 at 8:00 pm
I think the only rule is, bad spelling “Business”, god damn it.
March 27th, 2009 at 4:17 pm
“capko is a fag and rv is a cheat”
Those are some pretty serious allegations coming from someone hiding behind an anonymous user name…
Lets hear what exactly makes Capko a fag and me a cheat?? How about we get to hear it from a non anonymous poster??? Or maybe the person talking the shit is too much of a “FAG” to do so.
Interesting how a person who did their job above and beyond the expectation of Grenade then gets fucked out of commission earned gets called a cheat….. Please elaborate.

Well I support thier move, almost all companies have to expand. Thier is massive competetion out there and if you dont expand lines you contract, it is simple business. They still rep an off beat product like they always have. They havent sold out or given in to the mainstream or shit like that. I dont see non boarders wearing thier shit like Burton kids. I ask people what Burton is and some people tell me a t shirt company….see what i mean. Trust me coming from a business background, it is good move. You wont see these on Abercrombie AE people. The guys still rep them at events, they still ride hard, do camps, and most of all they still make crazy looking designs that only the true Grenade fans enjoy. You gotta respect them for that, and hell remember it is still a company for boarders by boarders….as far the logistical and supply problems go, all new companies have that and well they werent prepared for the demand and that just goes to show again these guys are boarders. They are learning what it takes to run a business and baord at the same time….
