This Is Getting Dramatic: Silas Leaps Ahead Of Malto, Claims Second Place
The big story this month is that, thanks to his new adidas sponsorship, Spitfire ads, and a healthy smattering of editorial, Silas Baxter-Neal has crept up ahead of Malto and now trails longtime front-runner Marc Johnson by a mere 4,000 points.
This month Jose Rojo and Clint Peterson both climbed up the edit charts thanks to Skateboarder interviews. Clint landed at 23rd, and Jose at 39th. Clint also made his debut on the top 50 overall, at 47th. And thanks to a slew of ads, Guy Mariano snuck past Johnny Layton to claim fourth place overall.

In the post- “Ride The Sky” months, a deluge of coverage is all over the mags, and no one is reaping the benefits more than Black Box’s own photographer Joey Shigeo. With 23,600 points this month, he climbed up from 30th last month to a respectable eleventh.
Well, okay, on second thought, Shigeo’s not the only one coming out golden. Take a look at the top 50 overall and note how many Fallen riders are popping up. Slash is holding down sixteenth place, Billy Marks is at nineteenth, James Hardy is at 24th, Josh Harmony is coming in at 27th, and Tommy Sandoval is at 43rd. Billy had the biggest jump, thanks to an enormous Thrasher interview. He wasn’t even on the board last month, and he skipped 20th through 50th.
We have two issues of SLAP in this tally, I’m playing catch-up from last month. Ever try to tabulate six mags in a row? Don’t—it sucks! But not for James Hardy and Josh Harmony, Fallen teammates who had back-to-back interviews.
And there’s more to come next month from Cole, Bennett, and the Chief himself. We only have two months left before we crown a winner—time to start placing bets. Will it be Malto? Silas? MJ? Or a mystery wildcard? Tune in next month …
