Moda3

With two locations in Wisconsin, Moda3 is a group of lifestyle shops, carrying snow and skate apparel, and priding itself on being the only shops around that are “rider owned and rider driven,” according to its Web site. Transworld Business caught up with General Manager Eric Kuester on Monday to discuss which products are selling at the moment. According to Kuester, the downtown Milwaukee store was founded with a more street and lifestlye vibe and tends to sell more apparel. It’s demographic is older and more urban, compared to the Delafield store, which has more suburban skate-centric customers, according to Kuester. Here are the three latest top-selling categories at Moda3:

BEST SELLING CATEGORIES

1. Outerwear
Kuester says the shop has - for obvious reasons - been moving a ton of snow gear over the last few weeks. “Overall, in general, we probably sell more outerwear than hardgoods,” says the GM.

Best Selling Brand: 686
This brand and Moda3 share similar goals. According to 686’s Web site: Not only is it “independently rider-owned and operated,” the company also has a strong commitment to providing “innovative and fashionable outerwear.” All that may have something to do with why 686 is has been one of Moda3’s top sellers lately.

Best Selling SKU: The Smarty Complete 2.5 Ply
This jacket has 2.5 ply lightweight shell construction and includes a new core-heating polyfill vest and smarty-liner, according to 686’s Web site. It’s available in the custom-designed “digi print” or solid colorways.

2. Footwear
Nike Air Wildwood The crew at Moda3 label themselves “sneaker-heads” for a reason. The shops carry a large selection of all the biggest brands, including Vans, Adidas and Gravis.

Best Selling Brand: Nike
Kuester said if he had to pick one brand that stood out, it would definitely be Nike, based solely on demand and sell-through.

Best Selling SKU: Nike Air Wildwood
“This particular shoe has been very popular over the last week or two,” says Kuester.

Capita Snowboards3. Snowboards
Moda3 doesn’t mess around when it comes to this product category. According to a description written by the crew: “MODA3 does nothing to compromise our focus – no ski’s, no patio furniture, no tennis skirts, no B.S! We focus on bringing you the best equipment so that your life can be filled with the biggest stoke for winter’s big white wave!”

Best Selling Brand: Capita Snowboards
This was a tough one because it’s been kind of all over the place over the last few weeks,” says Kuester. “But we saw a spark in those particular boards.”

Best Selling SKU: The Horoscope FK
“There was a good amount of hype built around it,” Kuester explains about the Horoscope. “It was a late-in-the-season release, and the kids were waiting for it.”
