OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE - WAIKIKI – (September 30, 2008) –– In anticipation for the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s BJ Penn versus George St. Pierre rematch, tentatively scheduled for December 2008, Aloha Army is proud to offer the limited-edition, BJ Penn Collection by RVCA clothing.

Born and raised in Hilo, Hawai‘i, Brandon James Penn, reigning UFC Lightweight Champion, is one of two MMA fighters to hold two different UFC weight class titles. Nicknamed “The Prodigy” after becoming the first non-Brazilian awarded the black belt category at the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu World Championships, BJ Penn is a MMA icon and Ambassador of Aloha.

With these accolades in mind, RVCA is releasing a line of clothing inspired by BJ Penn and aligning with its Balance of Opposites campaign. This limited-edition RVCA line features 13 pieces, but the two gems of the BJ Penn Collection are his signature white, polyester micro-fiber boardshorts and the Scrap and Destroy t-shirt. For the past three years, Penn has worn the white boardshorts with the screened jiu-jitusu black belt in all of his UFC fights. Most recently, BJ is also sporting the Scrap and Destroy t-shirt before fights and during press conferences. This black t-shirt borrows from one of the most iconic skate graphics, “Skate and Destroy,” originally designed by Dogtown documentarian and RVCA ANP Artist C.R. Stecky III.

Besides the Scrap and Destroy tee and BJ Penn signature shorts, the collection boasts a keychain, air-freshener, bobble head figurine, belt, three different t-shirt designs, two hats and a hooded sweater. All just in time for the upcoming Penn vs. Pierre fight and holiday season.
