    This is terrible.

  • Mike Says:

    This the worst!
I have no comment for this disaster!

  • who cares Says:

WHO CARES??! they were owned by Delias before, the aquisition by Foot Locker isnt going to change anything. i seriously dont understand why this matters at all. support your local skate shop. but if you dont have a shop in your town, at least buy from the mailorder that has been supporting skateboarding for 25 years. theyre still better than zumiez or any other mall nonsense..

  • CCS is Wack Says:

Support the Skate Park Of Tampa mail order at least those guys skate. There is not a single employee at CCS that skates nor gives a shit about skateboarding.

  • CCS Comments on CCS Comments Are Wack!!! Says:

    I do too skate. Damn.

  • CCS Comments2 Says:

    I skate. Damn.

  • thats crazy talk... Says:

That’s just crazy!!! Those guys have always fully backed skateboarding… and there a tight crew who DO actually skate. Anyone talking crap about CCS better take a hard look in the mirror, cause they have done more for skateboarding than most.

  • Support Real Skate Shops Says:

CCS hasn’t been good since the 80’s when they were owned by skaters for skaters. Now days look at there catalog there is more of there cheap ass gear in the book than the industries. If you look closely at the branded stuff they just completely rip off everyone else’s designs and sell it for half the price. I still don’t understand why guys like Arto and Appleyard even choose to ride for something so lame. From what I hear they don’t pay them shit and hardly carry any of there stuff in there catalogs? What’s up with the support for your riders CCS???

  • Well tell us Says:

If someone is backing CCS on this site that person must actually work for the company. So why don’t you inform us on what CCS has actually done for skateboarding besides sell products to kids who don’t have a clue?

  • Anonymous Says:

Great now the Prods can be on the shelf right next to the jordans!!!

  • who cares Says:

i dont work for them, im just saying that they were owned by delias, now theyre owned by foot locker. whats the difference?

  • Lee Says:

I don’t think a lot of people realized they were owned by delias. I didn’t. Also I agree with support real skate shops with the fact they have a bunch of rip off apparel and accessoriesfor half the price of the real thing. Fact is CCS hasn’t done anything to promote skateboarding besides sell their product to clueless kids. I’ll bet it won’t be too long before there’s a CCS store in your local mall.

  • who cares Says:

i understand that selling their private label rip off ccs branded stuff sucks for the manufacturers. but remember all the manufacturers are bypassing the retailer and selling direct now anyway. so whats a retailer to do? i dont know, i cant really make up my mind about this one. skateboarding just isnt core anymore and hasnt been for a long time. nike, adidas, burton (alien), billabong (element). skateparkfromtampa is the ONLY mailorder that is truly core, but then again Nike is their biggest supporter. so whatever..

  • SM Says:

the same guys that say this is a bad thing for skateboarding are wearing a pair nike right now

  • old shoe dog Says:

So beyond all the whining, the real question is: will core brands continue to do business with CCS now that FL owns them?
Most are already selling to FL subsidiary Eastbay.
Will they only sell Mail order or will they sell to the physical stores as well?
Is this a watershed for the skate industry or just more of the same?

  • 80's Skater Says:

Check this out. Vanity Fair - the same dudes who own Wrangler Jeans, Northface Outerwear, and Reef Sandals among others - owns one of the most Authentic Skate footwear companies who’s been around since the 70’s… Vans Footwear. More importantly they don’t get in the way. CCS is just a bunch of dudes (that can skate and) that work for a corporation as much as Vans is a bunch of dudes working for a corporation. Hopefully they’ll now do more contests, events, and charities. I just hope every kid who doesn’t have a local scene will be better off for it and no matter what, we all know that every kid who has a scene will continue supporting it.

  • weird Says:

if ccs is so bad for skateboarding, then why is every single skateboarding brand in the ccs catalog? were they forced into it? they voluntarily participate in something so poisonous to their very core? the bottom line is that ccs DOES support skateboarding by helping these companies sell their products to kids who want to skateboard (for whatever reason)and who don’t have a shop. maybe that kid will like skateboarding so much that he will find a shop and never go back to ccs again and then laugh with all his new core friends at how lame ccs is? isnt that whats going to happen anyways? then everyone is happy and the circle of skateboard retail has been complete. company, catalog, shop, skater. maybe its not the coolest way to do it, but lets not think for a second that this is a one way street.

with the popularity of skateboarding now, and the mind blowing reality that it will become an olympic sport one day, do you think that any of your favorite brands will not be sold at non-skateshops sooner or later without ccs?

well actually, look around…it’s already happened. way before yesterday.

  • Anonymous Says:

Well in actuallity. CCS hardgoods selection is more like a clearing house. The majortiy of the hardgoods in there catalog is not inline product. Tyey may have one current board in there that is surrounded by graphics that 1 or maybe 2 years old. There is never current wheels or trucks in there either. So every skateboard brand is in there to clear out there deadstock. If you look at there strategy and educate your customer base. They really are pretty easy to pick apart. They will never serve the core community as effective as they serve candy graphic loving skaters…

  • Anonymous Says:

Of course they will, they can not afford not to. WHat will be interesting to see is if FL will add skate to there stores and go head to head with Zumiez.

  • Anonymous Says:

who care’s what happens, just keep the ride going!

  • Anonymous Says:

every brands is being bought, sold and cash in on. so stop your bitching and sell something to them and laugh all the way to the bank….

  • nope Says:

There are not a bunch of dudes that skate and work at CCS. I met 3 or 4 of the CCS buyers at the black box open house last year and they don’t skate. Yes they look the part and had skateboards with them but def don’t play the part as they just sat there and watched everyone else skate. I also hear CCS is ran by a women who has never skated. At least at Vans most of the employees actually skate, surf or snowboard regularly. CCS only cares about $$$$ and could care less about skateboarding. Kids don’t be fooled cause we all know.

    Corporations
    Can’t
    Skate

Kids at the end of the day CCS dont give two shits about you. As long as they make there share holders happy with your money nothing else matters.
I hope skateboarding dies soon so the skaters can have it back like it used to be.

  • nope Says:

First every brand is not in the ccs catalog actually there are a ton of brands not in the catalog. (traffic,Listen,Cliche,Habitat,Slave,Real Krooked, antihero)
BTW Skateboarding will never ever ever be an olympic sport and your an idiot for even writing that.

  • corpo Says:

    where do you work?
who owns the company where you work?
    how much do you make?
    what do you do?
    do you skate?
    does that affect your job?
dont answer these questions, cuz i dont care. neither should you. all you “core” as kids on transworld biz. hypocrites!

  • Awesome ! ! ! ! nice work. Says:

wow. thats a lot of money. you know what i’d do with that kind of money ? 2 chicks….

  • Craig Says:

So what. I buy all my stuff from BUYSKATESHOES.COM. They have real skaters working there who really get out on the streets and skate. No that is someone I can trust.

  • SASKI JACKSON Says:

dude screw the core they are all sellouts dc is now being sold at costco just like every other brand great addition footlocker buy out all that skate shit no one cares at all.just cause u skate dot make u a expert on shit core shops are on there last leg get into another profession ups is hiring!

  • connie korn hole Says:

how are you core when your shoe wall all ready looks like a fkn footlocker.Core Shops RIP when this Nike bullshit trend is over.

  • whatevs Says:

I actually was a designer for one of the biggest skate shoe brands in the biz and we made tons of SMU (special make up) styles for CCS, PacSun, Journeys, Zumiez, etc……. So believe me kids, “It’s all about the $$$$$$$$$$$$” Don’t be fooled by how “core” you think skateboarding is. Yes it is still as core as ever, but when it comes to the business side of it all it’s about money and how much can we make=GREED. Even the beloved Jamie Thomas, who everyone kisses his ass and gives him the most “core” respect. JT “the chief” is a shrewd business man who has been pretty successful at controlling the image if his brands and pretending to be “core” while making a shit load of money. Don’t get me wrong, he’s an amazing skater but he’s an even better tycoon. Props to ya JT.

  • sw Says:

I know those dudes and they’re core. THey’lll do anything for you to get your business–special order/discounts anything.

  • Calling Bullshit Says:

    What a bunch of crap:

    Here are some facts:

Skate Warehouse management used to be CCS before they were bought by Delia’s.

    CCS guys skate

The business is all about he $$, thats why its a business.

Get a life, this shit happens, things evolve, its called progress.

  • Voice Says:

  • 80's Skater Says:

    Hey Voice,
What a crappy commercial you are. You just put everyone down for making money and not being core, and now your whoring yourself on this forum telling people to “buy skate shoes” from “buyskateshoes.com”. Not only are you a hypocrit - you were too stupid to stop yourself from sounding like one on one of the most major topics to hit the industry. To be honest, I’m a little scared for the shops that don’t have the money to do events, promote and sell on the web, and keep their kids stoked and loyal. And if “buyskateshoes.com” has a physical shop - you just proved to poeple that $$ motivates you first.

  • sw Says:

    Im one of them foo

  • voice Says:

Actually I felt I could help a core website out a lil bit. Maybe you remember that side of skating from the 80’s. Unfortunatly the advances in technology has made the world wide web a place of progression. Lil timmy in po dunk no where doesn’t have a shop near by. Im tryen to let him know there is still hope to hold down the legitimate skaters. And for the record buyskateshoes.com derived from a core shop that is still core today. Real recognize real and you lookin unfamiliar.

  • One Love Says:

    Buyskateshoes.com?
    1. Owed by an overweight wake board guy?
    2. Shitty selection, no team, Lame ads!
    3. Stop trying to promote on a blog, you should be cut from this site!

  • voice Says:

    1. OWNED by a guy who’s kids grew up skating, surfing, and snowboarding. Whom are the efforts and grind behind the machine. Dudes that prolly work harder for the industry than your computer does to process that lame shit you just typed.

2.Ads don’t make somethin core. Ads are just that, to expose something’s existance. And a website with a team is boo boo. Thats like a reef calender showin a face. Selection is up for debate. big titties or lil titties?

3.Noone’s promoten. I’m droppin my opion. Aint that what a blog is for? Here’s a promotion, Obama08!!.

  • Not a Democrat Says:

Just found this article and just like in politics the issue or topic gets lost in the Bullshit. Here are some facts to chew on; CCS has been bought and sold many times over the years and still does more sales than any other retailer in skateboarding (see article heading, 102 MILLION)…core or not. Since when does the business of skateboard retailing revolve around whether or not somebody skates??

It is important for the credibility of the brands producing the equipment to support a team, promote grass roots events as well as ensure local and national retailers stock their products so consumers that actually skateboard have access to them…All hail “The Chief”!

Buyskateshoes.com is a subsidiary of one of the finest board shops in the world - Ambush Boarding Co. in Atlanta, GA. This shop has done more local skateboarders than any other shop I know. Since their expansion into web retailing, they actually have legit skaters, snowboarders and wakeboarders working for their online brands, just like in their store. (One Love)Don’t slander where you are ignorant like Joe Biden.

Bank on this…CCS will be sold again (who cares), Quiksilver, Burton, Billabong and many other corps. will buy more companies, open more retail stores, sell direct from their websites and compete directly with shops that built their brands. Now there is a topic worthy of a healthy debate.

    Sincerely,

    An industry insider

  • Pure Board Shop Says:

I have owned a shop for 15 years and cannot wait until skateboarding and snowboarding suck again so all the public held companies cease making money from our lifestyle, sell the next hottest thing and we can promote board sports as it should be done.

  • Anonymous Says:

    wow too main stream

  • WTFF!!!! Says:

WTFF!!!! i hope that footlocker isnt gonna carry skate shit now..now everyone is gonna be able to cop Sb’s or other shit

  • Johnny Rad Says:

Any one else seeing small skater owned skateshops replacing these corporate mail order and mall chain skateshops? I honestly don’t see that as being a bad thing; there’s so many kids seeing skateboarding as an easily tangible culure to cling to, only to realize they’re not going to be the next “Tony Hawks”, and get rich doing it. We’ve become soft! Remember how hard we used to fight for that new deck, or sick ramp in your back yard? Come on! People who truly love skateboarding will always find a way, because at it’s core, skating is still about getting that new trick, or finally getting t skate that spot you’ve seen in the mags all your life. Skate or die, skate for life.

  • happy Says:

    fuck yea im happy
