PacSun August Comps Off Six Percent

Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. (PSUN 7.01, +0.65, +10.2%) announced this morning that same-store sales for August open for at least a year fell 6%. Analysts had predicted comps to drop 8.8% during this time, according to Thomson Reuters. Total sales for the four week period ended Aug. 30 fell by 4% to $163.1 million from the same period last year.

Total sales the first 30 weeks of fiscal 2008 were $742.7 million, a mild decrease from total PacSun sales of $749.9 million last year. Comps for this same period were down two percent.
