Vans El Ponto Loco Kicks Off Sept. 3 At Carlsbad Ponto Beach

Vans El Ponto Loco

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE - Cypress, CA (August 28, 2008) – The inaugural Vans El Ponto Loco presented by Sun Diego takes over the new Ponto Jetty in Carlsbad Wednesday, September 3 through Saturday, September 6, marking the first ASP event in San Diego since the early 90’s. The event will be the 8th stop on the 2008 ASP North American Tour and consists of the Men’s WQS 2-Star Vans Pro and a Men’s Grade 2 event, the Billabong Pro Junior. The contests will feature some of the world’s top surfers vying for a piece of the $35,000 purse and valuable ratings points.

Those that can’t make it out to Ponto Beach can catch live webcasts and plenty of photos and daily live up-dates of the entire event at www.vans.com.

Surfers confirmed to compete among the 200 men draw include John John Florence, Jason ‘Ratboy’ Collins, Ben Bourgeois and So-Cal natives Andrew Doheny and Kyle Knox.
