OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE - The Oceanside Longboard Surfing Club’s 24th Annual End of Summer Surf Contest and Beach Festival to be held August 15-17, 2008 at Oceanside Pier promises to be one of the best ever. The event begins Friday August 15th with Guy Takayama’s 8th Annual Pro Noseriding Contest. This event is features some of the worlds best longboard surfers competing to determine who can ride the nose of a surfboard for the longest period of time and for thousands of dollars in prize money.

On Saturday August 16th the StandUp Paddle contest and the amateur longboard contest wil be held. This year Boardworks Surf has stepped in as the sole sponsor of the StandUp Paddleboard event. Expect to see some of the best watermen from California and Hawaii competing for bragging rights, some cool trophies and hard cold cash. A Stewart Standup Paddleboard and a Hynson Black Knight Quad donated by Boardworks along with other beach gear will be raffled off during the festival with all proceeds donated to Oceanside High School Surf Teams, The California Surf Museum and the Interscholastic Surfing Federation.

The beach festival has something for every member of the family from delicious food and beer from the beer garden, live music and Polynesian dancing, to original artwork.
