Quiksilver South Africa announces 15th edition of Quiksnow


Tiffindell Ski Resort – Quiksilver South Africa is proud to announce the fifteenth edition of Quiksnow, the country’s premier snow sports event.

What is this? The SA National Freestyle Ski and Snowboard Championships. Competitors from all over South Africa converge on the slopes of Tiffindell Ski Resort to compete in various disciplines. The competition revolves around the ski and snowboard disciplines of Boardercross, Big Air and Slopestyle. Snowboard Cross and Skier Cross are the other additions to this year’s event.

Where in South Africa is there snow for all this?
Tiffindell Ski Resort, situated in the Eastern Cape near Rhodes is the host. Snowmaking machines guarantee snow for 100 days, and 2 snow grooming machines service the 2.3 hectares of ski area. For live webcam of current snow conditions check out snow.co.za

When is this event going to go down?
The dates for Quiksnow 2008 is Monday 28 July – Wednesday 30 July. One hundred competitors are expected to compete.

Why is this happening?
African snow and the associated winter sports of skiing and snowboarding are a reality in South Africa, and enjoy a big local following. This event is an initiative of Snow Sports SA.

Who is going to be there?
Top local Male snowboard riders include : Marcin Jekot (Jhb/Dbn), Matt Amoretti (Jhb), Katlego Maponyane (Jhb), Robbie Alluni (Jhb), Marc McDermot (Dbn), and Brett Lang (Pretoria).

Top female riders include : Martha Jekot (Dbn/Jhb), Nikki Caromba (Fourways, Jhb), Brigette Heeb (Pretoria), and Karin Weich (Mossel Bay). Top Male Skiers - Alex Heath / Skier Cross (Cape Town) and Bradley Stephenson.

Quiksnow is going to be filmed for Boardriders TV, the popular local boardriding television program.
