Paul Rodriguez accepts his $100,000 check for first in Men’s Pro Street Style.

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE  - Costa Mesa, Calif. – After two days of skate action, the skaters and their fans were all full of  energy and very excited to see who would take home the big payouts.  Close to 10,000 spectators including big names like Lil John, Mae Andersen and Nikki Hilton were all in the crowd enjoying the great show put on by the skaters, as the pros were pulling out all the stops to take home nearly half a million dollars.

U.S. MEN’S PRO STREET CHAMPIONSHIP:

Sunday evening Finals included the final ten qualifying skaters. Skaters were scored on their skating during five ten-minute jam sessions.  The lowest score was thrown out and the remaining four scores were averaged for an overall score.  As the sun set on Costa Mesa, big names including Paul Rodriguez, Ryan Sheckler, Andrew Reynolds and Chris Cole fought it out for nearly sixty minutes of grueling competition.

The skaters were paid up to 36th place, and the total purse for was $215,750 in prize money!

CARL’S JR U.S. MEN’S PRO VERT CHAMPIONSHIPS:

Sunday afternoon Finals included 10 qualifying skaters.  Skaters were judged on their overall impression during the 35 minute jam session.  Bucky Lasek landed his first-ever 720, in his run, and Sandro Dias landed an amazing, rare 900 during the last minute of action.

U.S. WOMEN’S PRO STREET CHAMPIONSHIPS:

Sunday afternoon Finals included the final five qualifying skaters.  Skaters were scored in four six-minute jam sessions. The lowest score was thrown out and the remaining three scores are averaged for a final score.  The skaters shredded the course and showed the world that girl’s skateboarding has progressed incredibly.  The final result results are:

Zumiez BEST TRICK:

Zumiez held a best trick contest, over the course of the whole weekend, on each of the different lanes of the street course, with $2,000 per section for the first four lanes, and $5,000 for the best trick on the big16-stair, for a total of $13,000 in prize money.

AWARD CEREMONIES:

Closing ceremonies went off in a whirlwind of jeweled Money Cups, giant checks, and Nixon watches for the winners. Joe, Gavin, and George Maloof, along with their partners and sponsors, were there to pop bottles of champagne and celebrate the inaugural year of the greatest skateboarding event ever!
