Surf Artist Phil Roberts Auctions Paintings for Hermosa Beach Fundraiser

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE - Announcing a special art auction to raise funds for Hermosa Beach Bronze Fountain of Dewey Weber. Phil Robert’s painting of Dewey and Leroy Grannis for auction, as well as other iconic Phil Robert’s paintings.

WHEN: Sunday June 29, 2008 from 2-7 p.m.
WHERE: Sangrias Restaurant on the Hermosa Beach Pier Ave.
WHAT: An art auction of originals and prints by artist Phil Roberts to raise money for the Hermosa Beach Surf Legends Bronze Fountain of Dewey Weber for the gateway to the city.

Included in the auction is a special oil portrait of Leroy Grannis taking that famous shot of Dewey cranking that heavy cutback at 22nd Hermosa, painted by Phil Roberts. Leroy Grannis signed the back of the painting.

“I see the artwork as a collaboration and it’s a real honor to have Leroy sign the painting. If it wasn’t for Leroy’s photography of those iconic moments I / we wouldn’t have the great imagery captured to inspire other artist paintings and sculpture.” says Phil Roberts.” This is a rare painting for any collector.”

G-clee prints on canvas of Phil’s recent series of paintings for Billabong will also be up for purchase. Signed and numbered by Phil, these are the first ones to be available framed 32″x 48″. For more info about Sunday’s event, click HERE.
