Press Release

BlackholeBoards.com, retailer of skateboards, skate lifestyle products and more, today is proud to announce their five year anniversary; a landmark in their history of servicing the skate community online.   Blackhole Boards was founded in 2004 after skate enthusiast Charlie Fulmer was left disappointed with the experience when trying to purchase a new skateboard on the internet.  He decided someone needed to provide a better service to skateboarders – better selection, great service, good prices and fast shipping.  And so Blackhole Boards was born…

The mission of Blackhole Boards has always been to provide a large selection of products from a wide array of brands and companies, in order for the customer to be able to create the ultimate board for their needs.   Allowing the customers the option to choose and customize their creations from a massive selection of parts with a user-friendly interface via the custom board builder - which has now become a standard in the industry - all from their home computer is what continues to set BlackholeBoards.com apart from the competition.

Over the past five years, Blackhole Boards has grown into so much more than just an online skateboard shop - now with a large selection of clothing and shoes for young adults and children from the most notable and popular brands.  Blackhole Boards has also emerged as a premier destination for longboards, keeping with the same mission of selection and customization with the longboard builder feature.  Blackhole Boards has also dived into snowboards and snow gear, products and apparel as well.  The most recent addition to Blackhole Board’s range of products includes toddler and infant clothing and shoes, so even the youngest members of a skate family can don the best brands around.

Now that Blackhole Boards has established itself online, the new agenda at hand is giving back to the local community - and taking it to the streets.  Located in Cranberry, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh, Blackhole Boards has made a habit of donating clothing and shoes to organizations that support less fortunate families and children.  Most recently and in celebration of the five year milestone, Blackhole Boards extended this initiative one step further.  A relationship was struck with the Mars Home for Youth, a local establishment that is dedicated to providing youth, who suffer from multiple hardships and traumas, with the best possible supportive services and a caring environment.  Blackhole Boards was honored to work with this staple in the community which has been providing an array of services to youth and families for more than 130 years.

The first ‘Learn to Skate Day’ event was held last Friday at the local skate park, and BlackholeBoards.com donated employee time and equipment in an effort to teach the teens some basics of skateboarding.  Basketball and baseball are common activities for the residents of the Mars Home for the Youth, so the opportunity to try out a skateboard and pick up some new skills was well received with much excitement.  The kids were attentive and fearless and the 3 hour event was a great success.
