In May 2012, Christina Pino and Katrina Silva launched ISHINE365, a unique online retail platform, that has gained an almost instant, cult-like following.  The fashion forward swimwear and clothing gurus have drawn on their own swimwear backgrounds and experiences growing up in South Miami.

On top of curating some of the most in-demand bikinis and beach attire, ISHINE 365 has also created a philanthropic side to their company that focuses on their local Miami animal shelter, The Miami Dade Animal Services, and also Style Saves, a non-profit organization that helps clothe underprivileged children in Miami. Recently, Silva and Pino have joined forces with Amanda Del Duca of Capture Fashion to create several of their most recent lookbooks, and plan on extending that partnership as they move forward into further developing their retail model.

TransWorld Business sat down with the owners of ISHINE365 to find out more about the company and learn some fun facts about the emerging retailer and where they see the swimwear market headed.

How long has your store been around?  

We launched a little over a year ago in June 2012

Experience before opening your own shop?   

Katrina and I had been hosting pop up shops for about 5 years before and they went really well. Katrina worked for Editor’s Closet Group full time which owned a few high-end flash sale websites, and I worked for Maya Swimwear for about 5 years prior.

What song best describes your shop?

Rick Ross and Nelly Furtado’s “Promiscous Girl” is actually where we got the name “I SHINE 365″ from.

Do you have an online store?

What are your top three most profitable product categories?  

Bikinis, cover ups and denim cut offs.

What has been the single best-selling brand over the past six months?    

Acacia Swimwear and Lolli Swim

Who are the top three reps that service your store and what makes them special?

Overall we work with great vendors and feel we have built close relationships with most of them. When reps are friendly and easy to work with it definitely helps create a type of loyalty to the brand.

Favorite local place to eat/grab a beer?

Our favorite restaurant is Pubbelly Sushi and we can’t live without our Jugo Fresh juices.

What is your overall impression of the local market over the past six months?

Since we are a new shop our sales are growing every month. We notice that people are willing to spend money on their favorite brands. We’ve also noticed that people are not as conservative with their bikini bottoms anymore. Being that our site has done best with skimpier style bottoms, we’ve noticed people are less concerned about how small the bottoms are as long as they have a good fit.

Overall expectations for your business over the next 6-12 months?  

We definitely hope to continue expanding at the rate we have been. We will be bringing in several new lines for 2014 and be carrying more accessories. We are always on the hunt for the hottest new brands and brands that are hard to find anywhere else so we can offer our customers a unique selection.

Is your shop altering the way you buy for 2014?

Yes

If yes, how are you altering your buying?

We have more confidence now when buying and we want to come in strong right when the season begins with our best selling brands.

Is your shop working closer with any particular brands?

We did some exclusive styles/colors with some of our top brands this past year. This is something we are planning on doing with more of the brands we carry such as Mikoh Swimwear, Lolli Swim, Acacia Swimwear, Tori Praver Swimwear, Bettinis and Mandalynn Swim. We love to get creative and working closely with the designers.

What are some things brands are doing to work with your shop?

Since we are strictly an online shop, we have photoshoots regularly, whether they are for our product shots, lookbooks etc. and the brands we carry are great about sending us samples ahead of time. They are also very open to our comments about new collections, which is how doing exclusives came about. Helping design exclusives for ISHINE365 is always fun. This year we will be also be working on some exclusives for our Shop for Charity section where the proceeds will benefit our local Animal Shelter.
