Nikita has created a new pop-up shop within the Dray Walk Gallery off Brick Lane in London,  in the heart of the city’s bustling promenade chock full of contemporary  retailers and interesting business models, like well-known music store Rough Trade. The 2,650-square-foot space was a blank canvas of concrete floors, solid pillars, and white-washed walls, which Nikita decked out  with old cinema style seating for a VIP temporary venue to showcase its  Spring/Summer 2014 line Friday, May 31st, hosted 2 presentations throughout the day from the Nikita crew giving a detailed overview of the collection and stories. Live music was provided by DJ Ivy  throughout the day-long opening, and guests were served up Pina Coladas and Raspberry Mojitos to keep the tropical vibe flowing.

Friday’s celebration was the finale to Nikita’s two-day international sales meetings held earlier that week, which featured a keynote presentation from Amer Sports President of Apparel Andy Towne Wednesday, May 29, detailing the company’s support for the brand and a look into 2014 and beyond.

Brad Steward, VP of A2 and Amer Sports’ action sports division, which includes Nikita, Salomon Snowboards, and Bonfire, called in via video chat from the US at about 2:30 A.M. his time to show his support at the meeting, before joining the crew in London for Friday’s launch at Dray Walk Gallery. Nikita Founder and Head Designer Heida Birgisdottir and Art Director/Designer David Young, both based out of Reykjavik, alongside Portland, Oregon-based  Product Line Manager Jen Irick, were also on hand to give a detailed overview of the SS14 collection for the brand’s European and U.S. sales managers and agents.

Part of the focused collection included a new fashion-forward infused streetwear line, and the tropical themed Copson Street, which was created with help from Maria Falbo discussed how the partnership came to fruition, and how she transitioned from Nikita team rider and skateboarder in 2009 to starting her own blog  and drawing on her lifestyle and action sports inspiration to create her first-ever clothing collaboration with Nikita.

Other product stories from within next year’s collection included Sand-City, featuring Aztec prints and geometric patterns, sophisticated styles, interesting fabrics, and  dip-dyes. Drift, another story, is built around the summer life with bold stripes, mélange fabrics, and fresh color combos, and a new concept, dubbed Nikita Life, is geared toward the active lifestyle girl who is balancing a healthy mind and body with impeccable style. The collection is a small line of soft and flexible fabrics perfect for living life through yoga, cycling, running, and skateboarding.
