Sun Valley and Snow Park Technologies Introduce Two New Premier Cross Courses

PRESS RELEASE

SUN VALLEY, ID (February 19, 2013) – First one to the bottom wins. Snowboard Cross is based on a simple concept: combine four riders, large, banked NASCAR style turns, bumps, jumps and rhythm sections and you have the recipe for one of the most exciting disciplines in on-snow competition. New for the 2012-13 season, Sun Valley is proud to introduce a new, world-class course – two actually.

The new cross course program at Sun Valley’s Dollar Mountain promises to be one of the most advanced in the country, boasting exciting terrain for all abilities. The two courses will consist of a family cross course geared towards beginners and recreational riders, and a large sized course with bigger features and a steeper pitch for more advanced riders.

This marks a huge step forward for Snowboard Cross – creating a linear path to the highest level of competition in the world for both kids and the highest level of competition riders, is a first in North America.” according to founder of Snowboard Magazine and Sun Valley local, Mark Sullivan

Locals aren’t the only ones excited about the prospect of a permanent training facility at Sun Valley. Nate Holland, six-time X Games Snowboard Cross gold medalist, “It’s great to hear that Sun Valley is throwing down on two courses. It will be cool to see beginner and intermediate/expert level courses built to give everyone a taste of boarder/skiercross, and Snow Park Technologies will build amazing courses, they always do.”

The cross course program is the latest in Sun Valley’s efforts and commitment to provide world class terrain for all skiing and snowboarding athletes, and it comes in addition to a 22’, Olympic sized superpipe, terrain parks for all abilities, daily grooming and more than 20 new rail features. Working together with Chris Gunnarson and the Snow Park Technologies team for the past three seasons, Sun Valley has quickly become a player in the ever-evolving world of freestyle and park terrain. And, it should come as no surprise that the mountain best know for fostering world class and Olympic level ski racers is rapidly becoming a world-wide leader in the exciting discipline of Ski Cross.
