Lahaina, Maui was the place to be last Sunday…OK, Lahaina’s the place to be most days, but things were definitely popping last Sunday as Hurley celebrated the grand reopening of its store there and kicked off the first “Rip My Shred Stick” event of the season.
John John Florence and Carissa Moore paddled out with more than 50 local kids along with local Hawaiian Hurley teamriders Amion Goodwin, Kai Barger, Koa Smith, Evan Valiere and Joel Centeio. Rip My Shred Stick competitors had the chance to show off their surf talents while enjoying a day in the harbor with their favorite Hurley pros.
The festivities then turned to the reopening celebration at the Hurley store on Front Street, where the location was blessed in Hawaiian tradition and then opened to the local community and Rip My Shred Stick competitors.
Leilani’s On The Beach supplied delicious pupus while attendees enjoyed John John’s new movie and were able to mix, mingle score autographs from Hurley teamriders. Both groms and grown-ups were all smiles, because as Hurley Lahaina store manager Dustin Barton put it, “a little bit of aloha goes a long way.”
Next time you’re out that way, be sure and swing by the Hurley store in Lahaina, Maui.
