While most of us were enjoying the holidays, a good friend of TransWorld and the industry as a whole, Michael “Styk” Styskal from Dept. of Energy, was helping his father deal with a life changing injury on December 24 that left him paralyzed.
Jim Styskal injured his spinal cord on his C3-C6 vertebrae. This has left him hospitalized with only movement to his arms and some tingling in his fingers and legs.
Here’s what Styskal shared with us. Please do everything you can to help out:
Now, its day by day for a long journey. Thanks for anything and every positive message you can bestill on this man, my dad, a father, husband and grandfather. We’re all praying for a MIRACLE and that he gets moved to Craig Hospital in Denver, one of the best in the world for spinal cord injuries. Craig will assure they can get aggressive in the rehab to bring back the many talents, knowledge and compassion Jim instills in anything from automobiles to the lives that he has touched.
It’s hard to see him in this state, as many know, he’s not one to stand still one bit, let alone lay in a bed in this state.
The family has set up the following site to collect donations:
If you don’t have Paypal you can send a check to Bev Styskal PO Box 428 Grant, NE 69140. Thank You.
Styk has also created T-shirts to help raise funds for his father:
