Surfers are being called to action to mobilize for a post Hurricane Sandy relief effort being organized by Waves For Water, non-profit organization created by humanitarian and former professional surfer Jon Rose. Here’s the details on how you can get involved.

Waves for Water has coordinated a comprehensive Hurricane Relief Initiative in response to Super Storm Sandy that has absolutely decimated the North Eastern seaboard. To assist residents of coastal NJ and NY, W4W is teaming up with Surfers Environmental Alliance, ELECTRIC and numerous surf shops in Southern CA to gather supplies for the people who still need them the most.

Several widespread needs are now being addressed by many of the other disaster relief organizations like the Red Cross, but the rebuilding process will require the help of the world’s surf community as well, and Waves For Water will be on the ground connecting with local relief teams and working tirelessly to restore basic needs and goods. To support the missions, Waves For Water has set up a specific fundraising page on its site (wavesforwater.org) for individuals and businesses to contribute.
