Aspen/Snowmass looks forward to hosting you at The Meeting. In addition to the screening of 12 new ski and snowboard releases there will be a mix of activities, industry meeting sessions and, of course, parties. We have continued to focus on creating a working atmosphere to generate new ideas and discuss trends to better drive your individual businesses, projects and other strategies for the upcoming season.
Each of the following Meeting sessions will occur at this year’s event:
HD Technology - Filmmakers are challenged with a variety of technical obstacles to get their stories on
camera. This interactive meeting will explore the constant development of equipment from HD cameras to
lenses and much more. Jeff Blauvelt, with HD Cinema, will lead the discussion and bring some new equipment for the group to examine.
Unification of Competitive Freeskiing - Freeskiing competitions have historically been run independent of each other with few, if any, conversations between organizers. This discussion will center around a new group, The Association of Freeskiing Professionals, and it’s purpose of organizing, progressing and projecting to the media competitive halfpipe, slopestyle and big air skiing competitions on a global level. Other topics to be covered include judging, rider ranking, and an eventual world tour of freeskiing competitions and Olympic halfpipe birth. The discussion will be lead by Christopher Jerard who has been working on the formation of the AFP and is the publisher of Freeskier Magazine.
DVD & Media Distribution - Films are made to be seen. Distribution of content is one of the most important
elements for filmmakers, athletes and sponsors. There has been ongoing change within distribution as the
internet has altered the way we look at video. Michael Lythcott, CEO of VAS Entertainment, will lead a
discussion on DVD distribution and emerging media.
In addition to the Meeting sessions and movies there will be ample time and opportunity to enjoy some of the activities Aspen/Snowmass has to offer. All activities and meeting sessions are invite only and everyone must have credentials. Attached is a complete schedule. If you have not already done so, please RSVP to either Ryan Miller (rmiller@aspensnowmass.com) or Deric Gunshor (dgunshor@aspensnowmass.com). Registration will take place in The Sky Hotel lobby on Thursday (12:00p.m. - 6:00p.m.), Friday (9:00a.m. - 11:00a.m. and 1:00p.m. - 5:00p.m.) and Saturday (9:00a.m. - 11:00a.m.).
We are looking forward to seeing you here in Aspen/Snowmass and kicking the season off right.
